Project Introduction
Centered on the themes of “memories of growth and hometown affection,” this project pays tribute to the Kaohsiung Railway Workshop’s more than forty years of support and companionship to Taiwan Railways. It also draws on Chaozhou’s historical role as a key southern railway hub for over four decades, evoking the warmth and emotional resonance of travelers returning home.
Under the overarching theme “The Beauty of Returning Currents,” the curatorial concept “The Moving Trajectory” unfolds through three dimensions — site specificity, environmental integration, and holistic connection. Eight public art installations created by an international team of artists weave together imagery of railway culture, natural ecology, and local memory. The works metaphorically echo the movement of trains and the passage of time, symbolizing the intertwined experiences of study, hard work, family bonding, and returning home for the holidays.
The project also includes a Travel Capsule 900-Voyage Journal xhibition, opening ceremony, city treasure hunt, cultural product design, and documentary production — offering diverse forms of public participation that deepen the interaction between art and community. Through artistic interpretation and extended activities, “The Moving Trajectory ” becomes a collective journey of memory, emotion, and imagination for the future.
