Swallow Express–The Great Zhenhua Adventure!

Art Theme Overview｜The Fortunate Swallow Meets Green

This project is located in Beitou’s Zhenhua Park, a site of exceptional natural beauty with interlacing mountains, winding streams, and abundant hot springs, offering unique landscape conditions and ecological potential—a world seemingly unto itself.

Field observations revealed numerous signs of swallows nesting and roosting within the park. Inspired by this, the main architectural elements of the project are conceived around the imagery of a “swallow’s nest,” while the landscape design embodies the concept of “reviving old trees, life thriving endlessly,” symbolizing the cycle of life and the potential for environmental renewal.

The public art theme, The Fortunate Swallow Meets Green, emerges from these natural observations, combining the dynamic imagery of swallows with the ecological spirit of restored greenery. It reflects the emotional memories and symbiotic relationships between community residents, the park, and the old trees. Through the art installations, the project enhances the site’s character and establishes deeper connections among the parking lot, the park, and local culture.

Public Art Project Overview｜

This project, themed Swallow Express – The Great Zhenhua Adventure, develops a series of permanent public artworks integrated into the community through a whimsical story featuring a swallow as the main character. The works employ anthropomorphized character designs, combining movement and imaginative scenarios to bring a sense of nature, playfulness, and liveliness to Zhenhua Park.

The overall plan centers on activating public spaces and strengthening the connection between people and place. Through art installations, narrative settings, and interactive mechanisms, the project aims to enhance public engagement with the park and surrounding areas, such as the parking lot, creating a multifunctional space suitable for exercise, leisure, recreation, and community gatherings.

The project also includes the creation of an interactive digital picture book, linking the park’s story scenes from the swallow’s perspective. It guides visitors to explore the artworks and participate in the creation process. Through parent-child reading and interactive experiences, the art becomes part of the community’s collective memory. The picture book encourages visitors to join the story themselves, strengthening engagement and promoting community interaction and connection.

By combining art and storytelling, this project not only enhances the quality and diversity of the space but also provides a platform for community participation and expression, bringing new imagination and cohesion to the neighborhood.

Artwork Installation Locations｜

After observing the landscape design and circulation of Zhenhua Park and its parking lot, the three artworks are installed along the green walkway of Cherry Blossom Avenue, on the east side of Soaring Meadow along Zhenhua Street, and at the park’s main pedestrian entrances. These three locations are key nodes frequented by visitors and users, positioned near the main entrances to the park, ensuring high visibility and effectively adding lively and dynamic imagery to the space.

Swallow Express Sets Off! – Pebble Path along Cherry Blossom Avenue
An archway is installed along the greenbelt of Zhenhua Street, integrated with the landscape circulation, inviting visitors to walk through and enter the story park.

Animal Friends – East Side of Soaring Meadow
Located in the center of the park, on the east side of Soaring Meadow near the community activity center, the work takes the form of street furniture. Combining functionality with playful animal designs, it attracts visitors to interact, rest, or play, co-creating new stories with the animals.

Swallow’s Gift – Pedestrian Entrance A, Zhenhua Street Park
Installed at the pedestrian entrance of the underground parking lot, this piece incorporates kinetic design elements. Residents passing between the park and the parking lot can experience the lightheartedness and playful charm brought by the artwork.
